Literature Text

Have I screeched enough cynicism to don me an outcast yet?
Has my continual satire gotten under your skin?
Crucify my individuality, dress me in your faded rags
Blot out my opinions, before they ruin your well-ordered system
I HAVE A VOICE THOUGH YOU MAY NOT RECOGNIZE IT
I HAVE A BRAIN THAT FUNCTIONS, JUST LIKE YOURS
I HAVE EYES THAT HAVE VIEWED THE WORLD AROUND ME
ARE YOU LISTENING ARE YOU FUCKING LISTENING NOW

I'm at your mercy, so ready your rotten tomatoes and faulty label-makers
Plaster me in ruthless titles, splatter me with rancid fruit
But I will stand my ground, I won't be ashamed of breaking away from your collective thought
ADMIRE ALL MY FLAWS BE ENVIOUS OF MY IMPERFECTIONS
I'm bearing it all to you, all my nasty little individualities that somehow make me less than human
WHY BE LIKE YOU I NEVER WANT TO BE LIKE YOU
So strip me of them, but my mind is mine alone
And though it ticks at times and short circuits, you'll never conquer it, you'll never barrel through it's weaknesses
You can bombard me with your cookie-cutter notions, but I'll never be a simpering princess
I'll never fit the stereotype and I'll never be female enough for you
Now that you've covered me in all your garbage, rotten fruits and misplaced labels, cut open my skull
Root around in there, see if you can make sense of it
Prod it with your silly forced opinions, smash it with your cookie-cutters
But in the end I'll still be a glitch in your system
